Gonzaga College first opened its doors in 1887 with a grand total of seven students.  It didn't take long for the school to expand, eventually opening a law school, a School of Education, an engineering school, and a business school in response to the growing needs of Spokane. Today Gonzaga University has an enrollment of over 8,000 students (and of course a pretty renowned basketball program as well).
